By Omid – Sunday School student in Austin TX.
About 2 weeks ago my stomach started to hurt. It was a very intense feeling and didn’t allow me to do anything. That weekend that it happened was super important to me because finals was that week. The whole entire Sunday I didn’t study anything because I could barely move without my stomach hurting.
My mom convinced me to call a practitioner and get help. So I called a practitioner that is very close to me and she helped me understand what might be making me feel this way. I told her everything that was happening to me and one of them was that if I didn’t pass my Language Arts final I would go to summer school or get HELD BACK!!!
She helped me know that I was in God’s hands and that God didn’t make mistakes and bad grades. After that, I told myself not to worry and to just do your best. My stomach stopped hurting me. That week not only did I pass my Language Arts class, I got amazing grades on all my other finals.
Thank you so much for reading this and helping me express my gratitude for Christian Science.
Theme: An Attitude of Gratitude
Come join us this year as we explore how an Attitude of Gratitude brings benefits to every aspect of your life. We will be exploring Jesus’ healings and parables as well as the Psalms for examples of how giving thanks and being grateful bring healing into our lives. Bible Camp is open for kids ages 3 years* through high school, with age appropriate activities and crafts for each class, including snacks.
Middle and High School students are invited to be a part of a special art project for the church and community, as well as an opportunity to delve into the Bible stories through scripting and acting. Older children may also be Shepherds, helping with the younger classes, and adults are needed to participate in various ways.
WHERE: Bible Camp will be held at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Austin, 1309 Guadalupe.
WHEN: June 23-26 (Monday-Thursday) 10am-1pm

Those near the Fort Hood community are no doubt saddened and perplexed by yet another terrorizing time in this military community. There is much discussion in the press about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the horrific things that our soldiers experience in time of war. The multiple deployments that many soldiers and their families experience naturally represent a tremendous challenge demanding incredible self-sacrifice.
As a Chaplain who was serving at Fort Hood during the shooting in 2009, I have to admit my immediate response was sadness at hearing about this most recent incident. Ironically, my wife had just been listening to the audio version of an article of mine which referenced my experience during the shootings in 2009 written for the Christian Science Sentinel online (a weekly publication of spiritual articles)* when we heard the news of the recent incident at this same military base.
The suggestion that the cycles of deployment lead to cycles of suffering which result in further decay and destruction is one which needs to and can be handled through active prayer utilizing the truths found in Christian Science.
