MORE INFO:

Henry Acosta is a man who has been interviewed by the Hands on Housing program and deemed worthy of needing the Interfaith Council’s help. He has 4 children, 8 grandkids, and a dog named Mini. He’s a handyman, but hasn’t been physically able to do his own painting in recent years.
As a group of three churches, we have been paired to paint the house, which has recently been re-sided by other volunteers. We anticipate the work will go from 9am-4pm, so people can arrive and depart anytime during that window. The other churches are planning on 15 volunteers each, so there should be a large group of us who can get to know each other as we work. Alex Carter and the head of the Baptist church group will be power washing the house 72 hours in advance so that it can dry and be free of dirt for when we paint. We will use the Baptists’ truck to bring the ladders, paint, rollers, brushes, drop clothes, rags, tape, etc. Everything should be there ready for us to start at 9.

“iACT’s Hands on Housing utilizes volunteers and skilled professionals to repair the homes of senior citizens and disabled individuals who are living in deep poverty. Our goal is to keep our homeowners safe and help them remain in the homes and neighborhoods they love. We believe that repairing homes restores hope to those who need it most and changes the hearts of those who do the work. Hands on Housing is a transformational expression of compassion in action.”
